West Chester Twp. Fire Department was dispatched around noon Tuesday on reports on of an overturned 4,500-gallon diesel tanker actively leaking fuel, according to Rick Prinz, township fire chief.
The fuel was on fire, and there had been two explosions before crews arrived, he said.
The driver was able to evacuate the truck and there were no reported injuries.
Prinz said in a West Chester Twp. Board of Trustees meeting Tuesday evening that the 4,500-gallon-tanker was still on its side with about 2,000 gallons of diesel left in the tanker.
West Chester Twp. is working with the EPA and EMA to determine how far the diesel fuel got into the sewer and drainage systems, according to Prinz.
Police Chief Brian Rebholz said there was no exact cause of the accident determined, but speed may have contributed. The incident is under investigation.
All lanes on I-75 near the area remain open.
